Thirty minutes later, I have finished my set and am about to do my duet with Savannah. We chose to sing ‘Shallow’ and a song by Tom Grennan and Ella Henderson called ‘Let’s Go Home Together. Savannah is obsessed with British music and musicians, and what my girl wants she gets. I strum my guitar as I did earlier when we were practicing, and Savannah starts. She shoots me a wink, making my cock nearly jump out my pants and run straight to her. We go into the chorus, and then it’s my vocals. As I sing the words, I realize how much truth is in them, and my heart clenches as I watch her and the joy on her face. Joy I am bringing her just by giving her this.

The song comes to an end, and I hop off the stage, ready for Savannah’s solo performance. I have no idea what she is about to perform, but I am looking forward to it. Small hands wrap around my elbow, startling me out of my Savannah trance. I turn my head to find Summer sidling up to me, smirk in place. Not wanting to deal with her bullshit, I yank my arm out of her hold and scowl down at her. “What do you want, Summer?” I snap.

She frowns before smiling up at me. “Don’t be like that, baby,” she purrs seductively. “There was a time when you were nice to me, and now you act like I am nothing, but we both know that isn’t true. I know you want me.” The girl is so delusional I start laughing.

I turn my whole body to face her, taking a step back when I realize how close she is to me. “You are delusional, Summer. Now leave me the fuck alone before I kick your pathetic ass out,” I hiss, my voice low, threatening. I know she gets it when her eyes widen and her bottom lip trembles but not one to back down; she schools her features, squaring her shoulders, and steps into me.

“It’s her, isn’t it?” She waves in Savannah’s direction. “That skank. Why is she different? Why do you like her? What does she have that I don’t?”

I flash some teeth with a dark smile. The fact she has the audacity to call Savannah a skank when Summer has been with half of the male students at Beaumont is laughable.

“Me, Summer. She has me.” And with that, I step away to watch the beauty up on the stage as she begins her solo act.

The lyrics to Freya Riding’s ‘Lost Without You’ leave her lips almost hauntingly. She is so lost in the music, in the lyrics, she has no time for the nerves, I know she is feeling. I am mesmerized by her. She has never looked more beautiful than she does in this moment, up there, on stage where she belongs. I glance around, not shocked in the slightest that she has gained the attention of most of the men in the place.
